Candidates Positions on Lake Champlain

The election on November 2, 2010 is rapidly approaching.  Do you know where Vermont’s two major gubernatorial candidates stand on issues important to the protection of Lake Champlain? LCC has asked Brian Dubie and Peter Shumlin about how they would address issues critical to the lake. We posed eight questions to each candidate covering topics like:

  • overall support for Lake Champlain protection efforts
  • stormwater control measures,
  • tax-incentives for improved stormwater management,
  • expansion of docks into public waters of  the state,
  • agricultural best management practices,
  • funding for drinking water and wastewater infrastructure,
  • control of household fertilizer, and
  • their own personal pledge to protect water quality.
