Celebrate Lakes May 29 & 30!

Love the water? Join in an informative, engaging celebration of lakes at the Vermont-hosted New England Chapter of the North American Lake Management Society Conference (NEC NALMS). The NEC NALMS Conference will take place in Burlington, along the shores of Lake Champlain at the Main Street Landing and Performing Arts Center in Burlington, VT on May 29 and 30. You can attend for one day or two but register online by Thursday at noon! Spend Friday afternoon touring the lake with scientists on the University of Vermont research vessel, participate in the "paint a lake" art project, or take a watershed tour. The afternoon programs will be followed by a "science social" at the Hotel Vermont, the venue is a great example of green infrastructure. Saturday attendees will wake up to the Lake Show hosted by renowned lake scientist Dr. Ken Wagner. Three concurrent sessions will cover lake ecology and human health, how to beautify and protect lakeshores, and ways to communicate the value of water. Learn about the spiny water flea, cyanobacteria, shoreland best practices, landscaping with native plants. The program includes a silent auction, poster sessions, a lake-themed art gala, and a series of short presentations by lake lovers on "the meaning of their lake". Meet lake advocates, scientists, shoreland owners, and others who care about water. Click here for the full conference agenda.
