Thanks Mike!

Staff Scientist, Mike Winslow with a Yellow Warbler.

After 15 1/2 years as LCC Staff Scientist, Mike Winslow left LCC earlier this year for a post at the VT Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research(EPSCoR). During his tenure at LCC he provided thoughtful, scientific grounding for LCC's policy and advocacy work. He authored the lake's only natural history book, helped implement our award-winning blue-green algae monitoring program, gave countless presentations to foster stewardship, trained hundreds of people to assess water quality, and wrote eloquently about the lake. He has mapped and inventoried many miles of near-shore areas for invasive species and led hand-pulling and eradication efforts. Each spring he shared his avian love and knowledge at our May bird walks.

One of Mike's many gifts is the ability to explain science in a clear, compelling, concise manner. We have no doubt that he'll continue to use that skill in his new role at EPSCoR. As a token of our appreciation, LCC sent Mike off with a toast at the October Annual meeting, a framed lake map, and a kayak so he can continue to explore the lake.
