Come learn about the work Georgia Elementary & Middle School (GEMS) students are doing with LCC around stormwater at their school!

Where: Vermont State House

When: Tuesday May 19, 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM (student project presentations from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM)

What: LCC has partnered with students in the Cultivating Pathways leadership group at GEMS to learn about, teach about, and enhance the gravel wetland that was constructed on their campus last summer through Vermont Green Schools. We learned about stormwater, how gravel wetlands work, and shared what we learned with students in the elementary school. We also have done outreach about the gravel wetland to the school and the broader GEMS community and are designing an interpretive sign to help people understand stormwater and the gravel wetland for years to come. Working with local partners, we are learning about native plants and designing a landscaping project that we'll install later in May and give open house tours to the Georgia community in June. Come to the Spring Celebration at the Vermont State House to chat with LCC and the GEMS students about this exciting work!

Cultivating Pathways to Sustainability is a partnership program between UP for Learning and Shelburne Farms. This event is a celebratory space for youth-adult teams from Cultivating Pathways to Sustainability teams from schools to gather and share about their projects and sustainability advocacy.
